CALGARY - Pure Technologies Ltd. (TSX:PUR) has been awarded a $2.7-million contract to supply a major Asian water agency with technology and training for detecting pipeline leaks.
The contract will be supported from Pure's technology centre in Mississauga, Ont., and its Hong Kong regional office.
Calgary-based Pure also announced Thursday that it has plans to form a joint venture with Maynilad Water Services Inc. that will provide pipeline inspection services in the Philippines and other selected markets.
The company will be the exclusive provider of trunk main pipeline inspection technologies to the joint venture.
David Roy, Pure's director of international business development, said the company sees tremendous long-term growth potential in Asia.
"We are committed to becoming the leading provider of pipeline management solutions in the region through our direct presence, through our Pure Technologies China Ltd. joint venture, and through partnerships with leading industry players, such as Maynilad," Roy said.
