CHICAGO (AP) — Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has announced the membership of the Southland Health Advisory Council. The council was formed in the wake of controversy over the proposed closure of Oak Forest Hospital.
Preckwinkle announced the council members Wednesday.
They are Carl White, pastor of Victory Christian Assembly; Salim Al-Nurridin of the Healthcare Consortium of Illinois; Jennifer Artis of St. James Hospital; former state Rep. David Miller; Nancy Kolanowski, a retired Village of Dolton official; Park Forest Mayor John Ostenburg; Joan Diane Adams-Alsberry of Kids Health Inc.; William McNary, co-director of Citizen Action, Illinois; retired community activist Mercedes Mallette; and Sharon Freyer, former chief nursing officer of Oak Forest Hospital.
The council's first meeting focused on the need to link county facilities, federally qualified health centers and private hospitals.
