ROYAL TUNBRIDGE WELLS, United Kingdom - U.K.-based Synchronica plc (TSXV:SYN) says it has received an order for its next-generation mobile messaging software worth US$1.4 million.
The order comes from an unnamed Indian handset manufacturer, and covers Synchronica's Mobile Gateway, which is "push" software for email, instant messaging and social media.
Push technology allows users to subscribe to information that is "pushed" onto their computers or mobile devices when certain related events happen.
Synchronica, which trades on the TSX Venture Exchange but is based overseas, said the transaction was completed alongside a company that resells value added services for mobile phones.
"This is a key contract win in what may soon become the most important mobile market globally," said Synchronica chief executive Carsten Brinkschulte in a release.
"Mobile Gateway allows device manufacturers to connect their customers to existing Internet communities, adding Smartphone-like messaging services onto mass-market phones — at a fraction of the cost."
India is considered one of the world's largest mobile device markets, and has been gaining momentum at a rapid pace.
