BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Up to 34 civilian positions could be cut at Mountain Home Air Force Base as part of an Air Force-wide workforce restructuring that is eliminating about 9,000 positions across the country.
The Idaho Statesman reports (http://bit.ly/vXFOPG ) the cuts are being made after the secretary of defense directed the Air Force to keep civilian worker costs at fiscal year 2010 levels.
A news release from Mountain Home AFB says the base will lose 34 positions, but that doesn't mean 34 people will lose their jobs.
Col. Scott Moser, commander of the 366th Mission Support Group, says some of the positions are already vacant.
