LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada-based construction equipment supplier has filed for bankruptcy protection to reorganize more than $500 million in debt.
Ahern Rentals Inc. said in a Chapter 11 filing Thursday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Reno that its debts and assets each were valued at between $500 million and $1 billion.
The Las Vegas Sun reports (http://bit.ly/uBbfrO ) the company, with headquarters in Las Vegas and Reno, has 74 locations in 22 states.
It rents and sells construction equipment including scissor lifts, front-end loaders, backhoes and excavators.
Company CEO Don Ahern says in a statement that the company has sufficient liquidity to meet commitments to customers, vendors and employees, and he expects no interruption in operations.
A company says existing lenders have agreed to about $50 million in financing pending bankruptcy court approval.
