SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — Donald W. Bailey has been named president and publisher of The Times of Shreveport in northwestern Louisiana.
Gannett Co., which owns the newspaper and its online news operation, made the announcement on Tuesday.
Bailey, a native of Augusta, Ga., was president of Morris Communications Corporation's The Augusta Chronicle from January 2004 until last year. He has served as a vice president of the Georgia Press Association; vice chairman and marketing chair of the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau; member of the board of directors of the United Way; and a member of the Exchange Club of Augusta.(backslash)
He arrives in Shreveport as The Times and Shreveporttimes.com emphasize digital technology and expanded online news coverage.
"Don is looking forward to being an active part of the community as he and those at The Times work together to serve the changing needs of consumers and businesses," Robert Dickey, president of Gannett's U.S. Community Publishing division, said in a news release. "His background and experience in leading the successful multimedia transformation of a print publication into a digitally-focused portfolio of products will be a tremendous asset."
