The Works burger chain looking to open 50 new locations across Canada

By The Canadian Press  | January 30, 2012

OTTAWA - An Ottawa-based hamburger chain is looking to open 50 new restaurants across Canada over the next five years.

The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro currently has 11 locations across Ontario including seven restaurants in the Ottawa area.

Chief executive Andy O'Brien says the company hopes to expand with a mix of franchise and corporate-owned locations across Canada.

O'Brien and his partners acquired the Works in 2010 when the company had just six locations, all in the Ottawa area.

Since then the Works has expanded in Ottawa and opened new restaurants in the Ontario cities of London, Kingston, Guelph and Oakville.

The company also has three additional sites currently under construction in Toronto, Waterloo and Peterborough, Ont.
