Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,517.66, up 65.51 points):

Yellow Media Inc. (TSX:YLO). Directory publisher. Down 1.5 cents, or 7.69 per cent, at 18 cents on 7,067,004 shares. The Yellow Pages provider says it will keep its Canpages online phone directory business but streamline its print operations and cut jobs as it continues to focus on Internet services.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up eight cents, or 1.72 per cent, at $4.72 on 6,844,811 shares.

Vero Energy Inc. (TSX:VRO). Oil and gas. Up 19 cents, or 6.88 per cent, at $2.95 on 6,522,837 shares.

Thomson Reuters Corp. (TSX:TRI). Media. Up three cents, or 0.11 per cent, at $27.57 on 6,053,821 shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up 13 cents, or 3.40 per cent, at $3.95 on 5,657,067 shares.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Down three cents, or 0.09 per cent, at $34.51 on 5,495,589 shares. The CEO of Suncor is downplaying two concerns that have hung over oilsands producers recently: rising costs and delays for projects that would bring Alberta crude to new markets. Chief executive officer Rick George said Wednesday he doesn't expect the cost of its Fort Hills oilsands mine to be nearly as high as a project that competitor Imperial Oil Ltd. (TSX:IMO) is building.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,637.31, up 5.56 points):

Calibre Mining Corp. (TSXV:CXB). Miner. Up eight cents, or 15.69 per cent, at 59 cents on 15,398,861 shares.

CardioComm Solutions Inc. (TSXV:EKG). Health care. Up 3.5 cents, or 10.61 per cent, at 36.5 cents on 10,312,823 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Scotiabank (TSX:BNS). Chartered bank. Up 31 cents, or 0.60 per cent, at $51.84 on 2,056,688 shares. Scotia said Wednesday it plans to raise $1.5 billion in an offering of common shares at a price of $50.25 per share.
