Western Pa. plant to close, idling about 110

By AP  | February 08, 2012

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania plant will be closing this summer, eliminating the jobs of about 110 employees.

The (Washington) Observer-Reporter (http://bit.ly/AmDsTi ) says Kyowa America Corp. will close the plant in Franklin Township, Greene County, at the end of July.

The company, which has operated the plant for 19 years, provided notice of the closure as required by federal law.

The plant uses a plastic injection molding process to produce parts for the automotive and consumer electronics industries.

The positions of about 85 regular employees and 25 temporary employees will be eliminated.

The company said in a statement that the plant "has struggled to survive but finally could no longer maintain business at this location."

Officials said some management employees will be offered jobs at the company's new plant in Tennessee.
