Bonneville Homes buys Alouette Homes in pre-fab housing merger

By The Canadian Press  | February 10, 2012

BELOEIL, Qc - Pre-fabricated home maker Bonneville Homes says it has acquired Alouette Homes, a family run Quebec housing manufacturer.

The pricetag of the deal, announced Friday, was not disclosed.

Under the transaction, Bonneville will buy the Alouette model home site in Saint-Alphonse-de-Granby as well as the manufacturing plant in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Rochelle.

The deal will help the company double production over the next three years to more than 1,000 factory-built houses from 500 to 600 homes today.

"This acquisition will double the size of our production facilities and allow us to move forward with the ambitious growth program we introduced a few years ago," said Dany Bonneville, co-president of Bonneyville Homes.

Founded in 1971, Alouette is based in Granby, Que. and is the second-oldest manufacturer of prefabricated homes in the province.

Bonneville, with 300 employees, is the oldest and biggest and is based in Beloeil, 32 kilometres east of Montreal.
