TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,701.26, up 77.9 points):

Uranium One Inc. (TSX:UUU). Miner. Up 19 cents, or 5.99 per cent, at $3.36 on 15,412,923 shares.

TELUS Corp. (TSX:T). Telecommunications. Up $1.35, or 2.42 per cent, at $57.25 on 11,423,211 shares.

Canacol Energy Ltd. (TSX:CNE). Oil and gas. Up six cents, or 6.45 per cent, at 99 cents on 10,116,597 shares.

TELUS Corp. (TSX:T.A). Telecommunications. Up $2.95, or 5.48 per cent, at $56.75 on 10,093,934 shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up six cents, or 1.28 per cent, at $4.73 on 9,487,432 shares.

Lake Shore Gold Corp. (TSX:LSG). Miner. Up 17 cents, or 11.26 per cent, at $1.68 on 9,466,482 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,684.95, up 6.32 points):

Sandstorm Metals & Energy Ltd. (TSXV:SND.WT). Natural resources. Up 1.5 cents, or 75 per cent, at 3.5 cents on 10,957,733 shares.

Border Petroleum Corp. (TSXV:BOR). Oil and gas. Up 0.5 cents, or 1.37 per cent, at 36 cents on 9,596,825 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Natural gas. Up 41 cents, or 2.96 per cent, at $14.26 on 4,909,805 shares. Talisman and Mitsubishi are looking at exporting liquefied natural gas from Papua New Guinea under a joint venture deal, worth US$280 million, announced Wednesday — the Japanese company's second move in a week to secure gas assets from a Canadian producer.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 23 cents, or 1.34 per cent, at $17.36 on 3,972,374 shares. The gold miner said Wednesday that it will increase its quarterly dividend by 10 per cent to 5.5 cents per share.

Cascades Inc. (TSX:CAS). Shipping materials. Down one cent, or 0.22 per cent, at $4.44 on 52,301 shares. The company announced the closure of a packaging plant in Toronto in June, cutting 36 jobs as work is shifted to other plants. Cascades Enviropac specialized in the manufacturing of honeycomb packaging used in packing furniture.
