In a move that would perhaps make even the Cheetah energy drink guy cringe, fashion designer and brand namesake Kenneth Cole used Twitter and the potential for U.S. military action in Syria to promote his footwear products.
“Boots on the ground” or not, let’s not forget about sandals, pumps and loafers. #Footwear

Perhaps the most amazing thing about this is it’s not even the first time. Two years ago the brand used the occasion of Arab Spring protests to tweet “Millions are in uproar in #Cairo. Rumor is they heard our new spring collection is now online…” That landed Cole on every brand social media FAIL list ever created, but apparently it wasn’t a clear enough lesson. Nor did he (or his brand) learn anything from the likes of Gap and American Apparel using Twitter and world events with disastrous results.
Stay classy, Mr. Cole.
