BERLIN – Bombardier Transportation (TSX:BBD.B) says it has received an order for 18 electric double-decker trains from Deutsche Bahn AG for regional transport lines in Germany.
The order, which is part of a framework agreement for 392 trains signed in 2008, is worth approximately $289 million.
The trains are slated to begin operating on the German tracks starting in December 2016.
The double-deck units each comprise two power cars with two or four intermediate cars. They can reach speeds of up to 160 kilometres per hour.
Bombardier Transportation, a branch of Montreal-based Bombardier Inc., is headquartered in Berlin, Germany.
