On Monday morning, Rogers Publishing announced that Canadian Business will be joining forces with its sister publication, PROFIT, in order to deliver an “enhanced business publication” that aims to reach a readership of 1 million.

The new Canadian Business will publish on a monthly basis, with an additional two PROFIT-themed publications released each year. CB will continue to publish PROFIT, which specializes in small business and entrepreneurship, as a special section included in every issue.

“The new frequency and enhanced content of the new Canadian Business allows us to do more of what we do best—provide intelligent analysis, context and thoughtful features to the business community,” said Duncan Hood, editor-in-chief of the new Canadian Business, in a press release.

“The PROFIT section within Canadian Business will continue to deliver the actionable information that entrepreneurs need, while offering larger audience access to the latest thought-leaders in innovative thinking.”

The PROFIT 500, an annual ranking of Canada’s fastest-growing companies, will continue to be produced, as will the W100 ranking of Canada’s top female entrepreneurs. CanadianBusiness.com (recently named Website of the Year at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards) and PROFITguide.com will continue operating separately.

Canadian Business is also launching CB Insights, a unit that will focus on market and communications research for corporations of all sizes.

“With the evolution of the magazine and launch of CB Insights, we are delivering added value to our Canadian Business and PROFIT stakeholders, business communities and advertisers,” said Ian Portsmouth, publisher of the new Canadian Business, and former publisher and editor of PROFIT, in a press release. “As we adapt to the significant change in the media industry, we are continually evolving our business model.”
