City of Windsor, Samsung reach deal for solar farm on airport lands
The Canadian Press
WINDSOR, Ont. – The City of Windsor says it has reached a deal with Samsung Renewable Energy for a 160-hectare solar farm on the city’s airport lands.
The city says if approved, the project would produce 50 megawatts of power and see $25 million in property taxes collected over a 24-year lease agreement.
A news release from the city says local jobs will be created but does not say how many.
A public meeting on the solar farm is being held Thursday evening at Windsor International Airport to provide more information and consult with community groups and other stakeholders.
