HALIFAX – Corus Entertainment’s YTV specialty channel has commissioned Halifax-based DHX Media (TSX:DHX) to provide a new animated comedy series aimed at children between the ages of eight and 12.
DHX said Super RTL in Germany has also ordered the series, called “Looped,” but didn’t release financial details of either transaction.
Toronto-based Corus (TSX:CJR.B) is one of Canada’s largest media companies, with numerous specialty TV channels and radio stations.
DHX Media creates, produces and licenses rights to family-oriented entertainment — about 9,500 half-hour episodes of child-oriented programs.
Among its brands are Yo Gabba Gabba!, Caillou, Teletubbies, Inspector Gadget and Johnny Test.
DHX president Steven DeNure says “Looped” will appeal to kids who wish they could turn back time or predict the future.
