Judge schedules Nov. trial in NY for San Francisco man accused of running drug dealing website

NEW YORK, N.Y. – A federal judge in New York has scheduled a trial for a California man accused of being the mastermind behind a secret drug-dealing website.

Judge Katherine Forrest set the Nov. 3 date on Friday as Ross William Ulbricht pleaded not guilty to four charges in a rewritten indictment.

He’s accused of drug trafficking, computer hacking, money laundering and conspiracy. The 29-year-old was arrested last year at a public library in San Francisco, where he lived.

Federal investigators say Ulbricht operated a website known as the Silk Road. The site let users anonymously browse through nearly 13,000 listings and make purchases with the virtual currency Bitcoin. Authorities say many of the transactions were illicit.

A prosecutor says additional charges may be filed.
