Keystone supporters holding rally at New Hampshire Statehouse

CONCORD, N.H. – Supporters of a pipeline that would carry oil from Canada to the United States are holding a rally and barbecue at the Statehouse lawn.

Called the New Hampshire Energy Forum, the event is being held at noon Wednesday.

It is being co-hosted by several local union groups, such as the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Teamsters, the American Council of Engineering Companies, and the Plumbers and Steamfitters.

Supporters say TransCanda’s (TSX:TRP) Keystone XL pipeline means a new energy resource for the country and will create thousands of new jobs.

Critics dispute the notion that the pipeline would create many permanent jobs or have a substantial economic impact. T

They also fear it could contaminate groundwater.
