MONTREAL – The Montreal employees of Quebec‘s TVA television network have voted in favour of a tentative agreement reached on Feb. 16.
The union representing employees at the privately-owned network says the voted 91.4 per cent in favour of the four-year agreement.
Under the terms of the agreement , TVA will create 49 new permanent positions in the coming months.
The union says there will also be compensation for job cuts in recent years and for the work performed by temporary employees since 2011 .
The union, which represents about 1,000 TVA employees in Montreal, said negotiations with the employer lasted about a year.
Approval of the tentative agreement comes a month after the members had voted 94 per cent in favour of a strike mandate.
