KENTVILLE, N.S. – A Nova Scotia pie manufacturer is undergoing a $10 million modernization, $3.5 million of which will come from the provincial and federal governments.
The Apple Valley Foods plant in Kentville says the money will be spent on a new oven, packaging equipment, freezers and other machinery.
The Nova Scotia government is giving $1 million to the company, while Ottawa will loan $2.5 million — $2 million from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and another $500,000 from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
Both the federal and provincial governments say the funds will allow the company to buy more apples and berries, thereby increasing production.
