TORONTO – St Andrew Goldfields Ltd. (TSX:SAS) is promoting chief operating officer Duncan Middlemiss to president and chief executive.
Middlemiss, who is also vice-president of operations at the gold miner, takes up his new duties Oct. 1, replacing Jacques Perron, who is moving on to the CEO position at Thompson Creek Metals (TSX:TCM).
“While external candidates, as well as internal candidates, were considered by the board, the excellent performance of Duncan Middlemiss as chief operating officer and vice-president of operations, and his intimate knowledge of the operations and activities of SAS in northeastern Ontario, made his appointment logical and appropriate in maintaining the SAS objective of consistent reliable gold production,” the company said in announcing the appointment on Monday.
SAS is a gold mining and exploration company with an extensive land package in the Timmins mining district in northeastern Ontario. It owns and operates the Holt, Holloway and Hislop mines which contribute approximately 100,000 ounces of annual gold production.
