Internship program
The Canadian Business internship is an opportunity for young journalists to obtain real-world, on-the-job training. Canadian Business interns are an integral part of the magazine's staff and expected to perform as such. Successful candidates will receive well-rounded training and guidance to hone their skills in the areas of writing, research and fact-checking — though self-motivation will play an important part in how much interns achieve during their time with us. Opportunities often exist to attend industry functions and, sometimes, to travel. By the end of their time here, interns should be able to write and fact-check a feature story and should have several clippings to add to their portfolio.
The Canadian Business internship program, founded in 1995, was the first paid magazine internship in Canada and remains one of, if not the, highest paying. Many of our interns have become writers and editors at the magazine, while others have gone on to senior positions at other publications.
Canadian Business internships last for six months and begin on May 1 and October 1. Applications for the summer internship must be received by the second Friday in March. Applications for the fall internship must be received by the second Friday in August.
