What you didn’t see—unless you were a subscriber or bought a copy of the magazine—was that 36-year-old Lawrence Ho became one of the richest Canadians last year, debuting on the Rich 100 at No. 58 after growing his wealth 124% thanks to a booming hotel and casino business in Macau.
Conversely, you may have missed the fact that Eric Sprott, CEO of Sprott Asset Management, fell from being Canada’s 55th richest person to its 75th after losing 17% of his wealth. He’s now only worth $1.02 billion. Poor guy.
What about BlackBerry co-founder Mike Lazaridis? He’s on there, at No. 84. So is his former co-CEO, Jim Balsillie, who had fallen off our list in 2012 (he just squeaked in last year’s at No. 98).
And Celine Dion? She’s not in the top 100, but boy did she ever come close (so close that we couldn’t help but include her anyway).
Following a highly publicized list released last week of how much Canadian CEOs make before lunch on a given day—it’s a lot, but it’s also a complex issue—it seemed doubly appropriate for us to release this list now. So, without further ado, click here for the complete list of Canada’s 100 richest people.
