Magna International has teamed up with Russian interests to jointly purchase a 55% stake in Opel, GM's troubled European division. Some call it a bold move by Magna's chairman to expand his $24-billion autopart's empire into Russia. Others think Stronach is playing with fire by moving into direct competition with his automaking customers. But when it comes to Canada's most flamboyant entrepreneur, Canadian Business reporter Thomas Watson says nobody knows what to make of the deal because Stronach and his Canadian executives aren't speaking from the same talking points.
