TORONTO, Nov. 5 /CNW/ - Eligon.ca is a Canadian online dating service for executives with security initiatives which enabled its operators to detect fake applications from Nigeria posing as single Canadian executives.

"During our first month of operations we were shocked at how many false applications we were receiving from Nigeria. We must have rejected more than 70 fake applications in the first week alone," says Boris Giller, one of the founders.

After discovering that they were in fact Nigerian "419 scammers" Eligon's owners decided to retaliate.

"At first we were just rejecting them, but then we decided to start accepting them into a separate database, matching them only with each other.

Every moment they waste on each other is a moment that they don't spend on finding a real victim," says Boris.
