MEDIA ADVISORY: Canadian Stars Hold Day of Action for Canadian TV

OTTAWA (Marketwire) - On Monday, November 16 Canadian stars will host a Day of Action for Canadian TV in the nation's capital with a morning press conference and afternoon rally to demand more Canadian programming on Canadian TV. Additional events will take part across the country.

ACTRA's decade-long fight to get more Canadian drama back in prime time is entering the final round on November 16 as the CRTC starts hearings to re-write the rules for Canadian TV. Canadian TV drama has all but disappeared since the CRTC's last policy hearings in 1999, this time we need to get it right, our culture and our voice depends on it.

        Canada's top stars including Dalmar Abuzeid (Degrassi), Nick
        Campbell (Da Vinci's Inquest/ZOS), Jackson Davies (Beachcombers),
        Mark McKinney (Kids in the Hall/Slings & Arrows), Grace Park
        (The Border/Battlestar Galactica), Carlo Rota (Little Mosque/24),
        Zaib Shaikh (Little Mosque/Metropia), R.H. Thomson (October 1970/
        The Englishman's Boy) and Tonya Lee Williams (The Border, The Young
        and the Restless).

ACTRA will appear before the CRTC's policy hearings on November 25, 2009.
