There are a lot of Canadian MBA schools to pick from—39, in fact—and it’s our hope that Canadian Business’s annual insider’s guide, now in its 20th year, will help prospective students make the right decisions. With schools strewn from Victoria to St. John’s and tuition costs running from about $4,000 to just over $80,000, the choice is undoubtedly a highly personal one.
Besides the list of schools itself, this year’s package includes a range of stories, profiles, data tables and a few online-exclusive galleries. A feature by Thomas Watson examines the Hobbesian-spirited School of Economic Warfare in France, which teaches executives to be ready to fight fire with fire when dealing with unethical attacks on corporate reputations. Michael McCullough has a piece about why your MBA thesis matters, while Jacqueline Nelson looks at the problems facing female MBA grads who, despite an increase in numbers, continue to settle for lower pay than their male counterparts.
Rounding out the guide are four student profiles and three galleries: one outlines a handful of typical starting positions for MBA grads; another looks at which schools lead to the biggest salary increases; and a third reveals how Canada’s top business schools rank internationally.
