Telfer School of Management

Ottawa, Ontario

University of Ottawa MBA Program

The foundation of the Telfer EMBA is a set of six business consulting projects, where teams of students collaborate to consult with actual clients on problems related to classroom topics. The six topics are marketing, innovation and entrepreneurship (which involves a trip to Silicon Valley), technology entrepreneurship, business strategy, international consulting (which involves a trip to Guangzhou, China) and a major business consulting project that students complete independently. Each cohort is divided up into teams of five to seven people; those teams stay together for the duration of the program to reinforce the importance of teamwork. Classes take place on alternate Fridays and Saturdays, requiring two days out of work per month. Classroom instruction takes place for 17 of the 21 month duration of the program, which begins each September.
