BRUSSELS – Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer, has reported a 4.3 per cent rise in second-quarter operating profit to $4.01 billion amid strong sales of its main brands Budweiser, Corona and Stella Artois.
The company said Friday that the three brands saw combined revenue grow 8.4 per cent in the quarter. Corona was the standout performer with 13 per cent growth compared to the year-earlier quarter, while Stella Artois rose 9 per cent and Budweiser almost 6 per cent.
Earlier this week, AB InBev increased its cash offer for rival SABMiller to 45 pounds ($59.3) per share after some SABMiller shareholders complained that the offer agreed on months ago had been affected by the drop in the British pound.
AB Inbev said Friday its offer was “final” and still hopes to close the deal this year.
