The Mountain View, California-based company said it had net income of $7 per share. Earnings, adjusted for stock option expense, were $8.42 per share.
The Internet search leader posted revenue of $17.52 billion in the period.
Alphabet shares have fallen almost 2 per cent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor’s 500 index has increased 6 per cent. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $746.23, an increase of 19 per cent in the last 12 months.
