Brian Krzanich, a 31-year veteran of Intel, will become the chipmaker’s sixth CEO on May 16, replacing Paul Otellini. Here are some biographical details on Krzanich.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from San Jose State University, 1982.
CAREER: Named chief operating officer in January 2012. Previously held senior leadership positions in manufacturing, holding title of senior vice-president for worldwide manufacturing before becoming COO. Joined Intel after college in 1982 as a process engineer in New Mexico.
OTHER APPOINTMENTS: Serves on boards of portable-energy company Lilliputian and industry trade group Semiconductor Industry Association.
