SASKATOON _ A Canadian Pacific freight train has derailed southeast of Saskatoon.
A farmer in the area says up to 40 rail cars piled up Friday morning just west of the Rural Municipality of Blucher.
Canadian Pacific (TSX:CP) says the train was carrying potash and no dangerous goods were involved.
No one was hurt but an official with the municipality says the derailment has forced the closure of some roads.
There was no immediate word on the cause of the derailment.
The CPR says it has an emergency response team at the site.
“We take this extremely seriously and will be focused on safety as we continue to deal with this incident,” a company spokesman said in an email.
“An investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
