Chiquita, Yahoo, Intel and Stanley Black & Decker are big market movers

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market:

Chiquita Brands International Inc., down $1.20 to $11.40

Middle East market disruptions and declining prices for the banana seller elicit a downgrade from Janney Capital Markets.

Stanley Black & Decker Inc., down $12.76 to $76.75

The tool company lowered its outlook for the year, citing slower growth in emerging markets and the government shutdown.

Advance Auto Parts Inc., up $13.66 to $96.16

Spends $2.04 billion to buy General Parts International, creating the biggest automotive parts provider in North America.

Green Dot Corp., down 94 cents to $20.67

Janney sees the financial technology company facing intensifying competition from companies with a lot more resources.

Apple Inc., up $2.43 to $501.11

The tech giant is back up above $500 per share and Canaccord raises its price target by $20, seeing strong iPhone 5s sales.

Yahoo Inc., down 29 cents to $33.09

A lacklustre quarter is offset by the Internet company’s 24 per cent stake in China’s high-flying Alibaba Group.

Intel Corp., up 31 cents to $23.70

The chipmaker topped Wall Street’s expectations for its third quarter, which had been lowered because of weak PC sales.
