Cott moving into Canadian water-coffee delivery business with Aquaterra purchase

TORONTO – Canada’s largest water delivery business for homes and offices is to be acquired for about $62 million by Cott Corp., best known as a leading North American supplier of private-label carbonated drinks.

Cott (TSX:BCB) says its friendly takeover of Aquaterra is part of a strategic shift that included last year’s purchase of Atlanta-based DS Services of America for $1.25 billion.

Aquaterra delivers water and coffee to about 70,000 customers across Canada and provides water filtration services through brands such as Canadian Springs and Labrador Springs.

The deal, which is subject to certain conditions, is expected to close in January.
