THE HAGUE, Netherlands – Dutch emergency services say a major fire has broken out at a chemical plant operated by oil giant Shell near the port city of Rotterdam.
The Security Region Central and Western Brabant said in a tweet that nobody was missing or injured in the fire that broke out late Tuesday.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Local media report that people across a wide area reported hearing blasts and could see the flames soaring into the night sky.
Fire fighters are using foam to fight the flames.
