DETROIT – Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne says his company will adjust to stricter enforcement of auto safety rules by the U.S. government.
Marchionne says Fiat Chrysler will co-operate with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and answer all of its questions.
His remarks Tuesday night came a day after the agency announced a rare public hearing to determine if Fiat Chrysler failed to properly fix problems in 20 recalls covering more than 10 million vehicles.
Marchionne says a Chrysler representative will testify at the hearing scheduled for July 2.
He says the industry isn’t used to stricter enforcement and the adjustment will be painful.
