How the Dow Jones industrial average and other major indexes fared Monday

Technology companies led the stock market higher on Monday, pushing the Standard & Poor’s 500 index to another record high.

A pair of strong economic reports also encouraged investors. Wages and spending rose in the U.S. last month, and pending home sales hit a three-year high.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 106.20 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 14,818.75.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 rose 11.37 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 1,593.61.

The Nasdaq composite index rose 27.76 points, or 0.9 per cent, to 3,307.02.

For the year:

The Dow is up 1,714.61 points, or 13.1 per cent.

The S&P 500 is up 167.42 points, or 11.7 per cent.

The Nasdaq is up 287.51 points, or 9.5 per cent.
