Stocks fell sharply on Friday as a strong jobs report led investors to speculate that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates as soon as June as the economy continues to strengthen.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 278.94 points, or 1.5 per cent, to 17,856.78.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index dropped 29.78 points, or 1.4 per cent, to 2,071.26.
The Nasdaq composite lost 55.44 points, or 1.1 per cent, to 4,927.37.

The Dow is down 275.92 points, or 1.5 per cent.
The S&P 500 is down 33.24 points, or 1.6 per cent.
The Nasdaq is down 36.16 points, or 0.7 per cent.

The Dow is up 33.71 points, or 0.2 per cent.
The S&P 500 index is up 12.36 points, or 0.6 per cent.
The Nasdaq is up 191.32 points, or 4.04 per cent
