The U.S. stock market ended Thursday’s trading slightly lower as investors were hesitant to make any large bets before the release of the government’s closely watched jobs report Friday.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 4.15 points, or 0.02 per cent, to 17,863.43.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index fell 2.38 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 2,099.93.
The Nasdaq composite index lost 14.74 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 5,127.74.
For the week:
The Dow is up 199.89 points, or 1.1 per cent.
The S&P 500 is up 20.57 points, or 1 per cent.
The Nasdaq is up 73.99 points, or 1.5 per cent.
For the year:
The Dow is up 40.36 points, or 0.2 per cent.
The S&P is up 41.03 points, or 2 per cent.
The Nasdaq is up 391.68 points, or 8.3 per cent.
