Stocks rose for a second day on Tuesday, helped by a stabilization in crude oil prices. Chipotle Mexican Grill fell on more worries about the safety of its food.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 165.65 points, or 1 per cent, to 17,417.27.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index added 17.82 points, or 0.9 per cent, to 2,038.97.
The Nasdaq composite rose 32.19 points, or 0.7 per cent, to 5,001.11.

The Dow is up 288.72 points, or 1.7 per cent.
The S&P 500 index is up 33.42 points, 1.7 per cent.
The Nasdaq is up 78.03 points, or 1.6 per cent.

The Dow is down 405.80 points, or 2.3 per cent.

The Nasdaq is up 265.06 points, or 5.6 per cent.
