U.S. stocks rebounded Wednesday, recovering a significant portion of their losses from the day earlier. Investors remain on edge after the latest market plunge, which was triggered by more signs of slowing growth in China.
For the day:
The Dow rose 293.03 points, or 1.8 per cent, to 16,351.38.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index added 35.01 points, or 1.8 per cent, to 1,948.86.
The Nasdaq composite rose 113.87 points, or 2.5 per cent, to 4,749.98.
For the week:
The Dow is down 291.63 points, or 1.8 per cent.
The S&P 500 has lost 40.01 points, or 2 per cent.
The Nasdaq is down 78.35 points, or 1.6 per cent.
For the year:
The Dow is down 1,471.69 points, or 8.3 per cent.
The S&P 500 index is down 110.04 points, or 5.3 per cent.
The Nasdaq is up 13.92 points, or 0.3 per cent.
