U.S. stocks jumped Monday after Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen again managed to soothe investors’ jangled nerves. Oil prices reached their highest levels of 2016.
The Dow Jones industrial average added 113.27 points, or 0.6 per cent, to 17,920.33.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index climbed 10.28 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 2,109.41.
The Nasdaq composite index rose 26.20 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 4,968.71.
For the year:
The Dow is up 495.30 points, or 2.8 per cent.
The S&P 500 is up 65.47 points, or 3.2 per cent.
The Nasdaq is down 38.70 points, or 0.8 per cent.
