Magna plant workers to vote on new tentative agreement, end short walk out

WINDSOR, Ont. – Unionized workers at Magna International Inc.’s Canadian operations in Windsor, Ont., have reached a tentative agreement with the auto parts maker, ending a short strike.

Members will vote at 5 p.m. today on the new tentative agreement.

Unifor spokesman Gord Gray said the 1,000 members working at the General Motors and Fiat Chrysler vehicle seating assembly lines at the Windsor plant walked out yesterday after nearly 58 per cent of workers rejected a previous tentative agreement.

Gray said workers at the plant’s GM division returned to work Monday but Fiat workers are temporarily unable to go back to work due to a supply shortage caused by a fire at one its auto supplier plants in Tennessee.
