The bank’s profit shrank 27 in the first quarter, but its net income and revenue were greater than expected.
Regions Financial Corp., up 26 cents to $8.74
The Regions Bank holding company reported a bigger profit and greater sales than expected.
Marathon Petroleum Corp., down $1.52 to $37.90
Energy companies took losses as the price of oil fell.
General Motors Co., down 16 cents to $30.56
The company is recalling 1 million Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks because of possible seatbelt problems.
Edison International, up $1.02 to $71.06
Utilities traded higher as bond prices rose. Investors are drawn to their relatively high dividend payouts because rising bond prices are lowering the yields investors can earn from bonds.
Newmont Mining Corp., up 69 cents to $29.37
Mining and metals companies rose as gold and silver prices increased.
Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc., up $13.28 to $469.29
The Mexican food chain, which has seen its stock plummet in the last six months, continued a modest recovery.
PTC Therapeutics Inc., up $2.69 to $8.92
A British health advisory group recommended that PTC’s drug Translurna, which treats a rare and fatal genetic disease, be approved for sale.
