Stocks are opening mostly higher on Wall Street, led by gains in energy stocks as the price of crude oil turns higher.
Murphy Oil jumped 6 per cent shortly after the opening bell Tuesday, one of the biggest gains in the Standard & Poor’s 500 index.
Bond yields pulled back slightly after a week of sharp increases. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell to 2.24 per cent.
The S&P 500 index rose 5 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 2,169.
The Dow Jones industrial average slipped 25 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 18,844.
The Nasdaq composite gained 32 points, or 0.6 per cent, to 5,250.
