Bank of Nova Scotia (TSX:BNS). Bank. Up $1.18, or 1.63 per cent, to $73.70 on three million shares. Scotiabank boosted its fourth-quarter net income by nine per cent, capping off a year that saw Canada’s big banks go up against rock-bottom interest rates, volatile stock markets and global economic and political uncertainty. The bank, which was the first of the big lenders to report earnings results for the final quarter of the year, had $2.01 billion of net income for the three months ended Oct. 31, up from $1.84 billion a year earlier.
