Toronto Stock Exchange (11,836.86 down 158.80 points):
San Gold Corp. (TSX:SGR). Miner. Up 1.5 cents, or 15.79 per cent, at 11 cents on 7.42 million shares.
Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Down 43 cents, or 2.43 per cent, at $17.28 on 6.91 million shares. The world’s largest gold producer is laying off about 100 corporate staff as it struggles with falling gold prices and a number of internal challenges.
Marengo Mining Ltd. (TSX:MRN). Miner. Down 2.5 cents, or 16.67 per cent, at 2.5 cents on 5.86 million shares. The metals and mining sector led all the subgroups in the red, dropping 45.20 points or 6.38 per cent to 663.39 points.
B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Mine. Down 13 cents, or 5.75 per cent, at $2.13 on 5.56 million shares.
Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurer. Down 48 cents, or 2.87 per cent, at $16.24 on 5.01 million shares. Production at its mine in the Philippines has started over the weekend after it suspended operations at the beginning of the month due to minor leaks.
Toronto Venture Exchange (880.02 down 15.76 points):
Donner Metals Ltd. (TSXV:DON). Metal explorer. Down 2.5 cents, or 20 per cent, at 10 cents on 2.12 million shares. The Vancouver-based company has entered into an agreement with Secutor Capital Management Corp. and Marquest Capital Markets for a private placement that will raise a total of $4.5 million to be used for its projects in Quebec and for share capital.
Selwyn Resources Ltd. (TSXV:SWN). Metal explorer. Up 0.2 cent, or 2.35 per cent, at 8.7 cents on 1.81 million shares.

Hudson’s Bay Co. (TSX:HBC). Retailer. Unchanged at $15.99 on 13,366 shares. The retailer is close to a potential deal to buy high-end retailer Saks Inc. (NYSE:SKS), according to a source close to a deal. HBC is looking to buy all 41 department stores under the Saks banner, including the iconic location on New York’s Fifth Avenue.
