Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurer. Down 51 cents, or 4.47 per cent, at $10.9 on 5,428,667 shares.

Research In Motion (TSX:RIM). Consumer technology. Down 82 cents, or 7.14 per cent, at $10.66 on 3,231,077 shares. A fresh batch of takeover speculation greeted the BlackBerry-maker on Wednesday as analysts weighed in on the company’s projected operating loss in the current quarter and its prospects for survival. Today’s sell-off came after a statement from RIM late Tuesday said it hired two outside firms to advise on its troubled business and financial performance.
Fibrek Inc. (TSX:FBK). Pulp and paper. Down one cent, or 1.12 per cent, at 88 cents on 65,000 shares. Five top-ranking executives from Fibrek, recently acquired by Resolute Forest Products (TSX:RFP), have departed with more $8.2 million in compensation and retirement payouts. The bulk of the payments went to the former CEO, Pierre Gabriel Cote, who received $5.1 million in various payments.
