WASHINGTON – The White House says President Barack Obama’s final recommended budget will be released on Feb. 9.
Office of Management and Budget Director Shaun Donovan says via Twitter that final touches to the budget are underway.
Political junkies may have their attention focused on other matters that day — the New Hampshire primary.
Obama won a big victory with this year’s budget in getting Congress to agree to exceed spending caps for defence and nondefense programs. Entering his final year, he could find it more difficult to win congressional support for many of his recommendations.
Obama is delivering his final State of the Union address on Tuesday. White House spokesman Josh Earnest says the president is focused on making recommendations that he believes will pay off for future generations.
