Rogers Communication misses 4Q earnings expectations, tops revenue forecasts

TORONTO – TORONTO (AP) _ Rogers Communication Inc. (RCI) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $224 million.

On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had profit of 43 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 48 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 50 cents per share.

The communications and media company posted revenue of $2.59 billion in the period, topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.49 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $1.08 billion, or $2.09 per share. Revenue was reported as $10.51 billion.

Rogers Communication shares have climbed nearly 5 per cent since the beginning of the year. The stock has stayed the same over the last 12 months.
